New Investment Brings National Packaging Company to Delaware County
MUNCIE, Ind. (April 15, 2026) — A new business investment in Delaware County is transforming a former retail space into a modern industrial asset—bringing new energy and opportunity to the region’s logistics and manufacturing ecosystem.
Sort Pro Holdings, a national packaging material sorting and storage company, has officially located operations in Yorktown, occupying 56,000 square feet of the former Marsh Supermarket warehouse at 9511 W. Depot Street.
From Retail to Regional Asset
The redevelopment of the former Marsh facility marks a strategic reuse of existing infrastructure to meet the needs of modern industry. Owned by Tao Properties, the space has undergone significant upgrades to meet food-grade compliance standards—positioning it as a competitive site for advanced logistics and distribution operations.
“Ownership is very pleased to host Sort Pro Services,” said Jay Chu of Tao Properties. “We have renovated the existing space for modern, food-grade use to support Sort Pro’s long-term commitment and new Delaware County operation.”
Enhancements to the facility include new office space, updated restrooms, improved life-safety systems, and the addition of truck docks—all designed to meet today’s operational demands. With 22-foot clear height and robust utility infrastructure, the property is now equipped to support a wide range of warehouse, distribution, and production uses.
Strategic Location Meets Industry Demand
Sort Pro Holdings serves major can manufacturers and branded product companies across the country, playing a critical role in packaging supply chains that ultimately fill store shelves nationwide.
According to David Atkinson, Vice President of Sort Pro, Delaware County stood out for several key reasons.
“The investment being made to bring the facility to food-grade compliance, the convenient location to our client base, and the competitive lease structure were all defining factors in our decision,” Atkinson said.
This move strengthens the region’s position within the broader packaging and distribution network while reinforcing East Central Indiana’s value as a logistics-friendly location.
Partnership Drives Progress
The project is the result of strong local collaboration, led by the Economic Development Alliance of Muncie-Delaware County. Vice President Traci Lutton played a key role in connecting Sort Pro’s site selection team with the property and helping ensure that both the timeline and facility requirements could be met.
This type of partnership-driven development continues to be a hallmark of successful economic growth across the region—bringing together private investment, local leadership, and strategic vision.
More Opportunity on the Horizon
The Yorktown property remains a multi-tenant complex, with East-Terra Plastics currently occupying a portion of the space. Additional units ranging from 10,000 to 100,000 square feet are still available, offering opportunities for future tenants seeking flexible industrial space with trailer dock access.
“Tao Properties is anxious to invest further in the remaining vacant units and attract additional businesses in 2026,” Chu added.
As redevelopment continues, the site is poised to become a hub for industrial activity—supporting job creation, business growth, and long-term economic momentum in Delaware County.
